A visit to the Geological Museum of Bahia is an invitation to get to know the soil and rocks where we step, the riches of the subsoil, as well as the fossils of the beings that inhabited our Earth. It allows the public to know the geological history and mineral heritage of that state.
It has one of the largest collections of rocks, minerals, precious stones and fossils in Bahia, with more than 20 thousand pieces, providing its visitors with a journey through geological time through its thematic exhibitions: Solar System and Meteorites, Minerals, Rocks , Mineral Resources, Mining, Radioactive Minerals, Mineral Crafts, Crystal Energy, Oil, Gems, Otto Billian Collection, Fossils and Ornamental Rocks.
It also has an auditorium / cinema with 125 seats and a cozy café in the shade of a century-old mango tree, from where you can appreciate a beautiful mural by the artist Juarez Paraíso.
Inaugurated on March 4, 1975, currently linked to the Secretary of Industry, Commerce and Mining - SICM of the State of Bahia, the Museum is a center for research, dissemination and preservation of the geological heritage of Bahia, which develops projects of a scientific, educational nature and cultural.

- Monday to Friday, from 1 pm to 6 pm;
- Saturdays and Sundays, from 1 pm to 5 pm, on the dates:
